My girlfriend and I are moving across the country from NY to San Fran to be around her friends and family while she has a baby.. this obviously wasn't planned but neither of us beleive in not having the child. I have no money saved being that I have been struggling financially for the last year following college graduation. I have acquired great software sales experience here in NY over the last year and want to beleive I will be pretty marketable in San Fran. So essentially, I will be moving to San Fran with no job and no savings.... risky business. Does anyone have any insite into a situation like this? Has anyone been in a similar situation..? Because I am a wreck lately thinking about my future. I have a B.S. and a very strong work ethic along with a year of software sales experience. Please help...Im in the predicament of my life and I need some serious advice...?
I know that with moving and having a baby
is a great change in a couple. Let me tell
you a little bit of our experience, we moved
to Dallas, tx 10 years ago from Mexico
City, Im a citizen, my husband is Hispanic
so we moved here since my husband was
laid off from a company after 13 yrs
Electrical Engineer bd and masters degree
but just like you no money, my husband
no english just a degree/experience but
moving to a foreign country is very
freightining, but if you have a very strong
work ethic/background and the will you
will survive, dont worry and just believe in
yourself. Theres people sometimes
coming from other countries, without any
studies, no english, they just want a little
little piece of the american dream and they
dont care how they do it starting out like
dishwashers, janitors, waiters and they
want to make it work. So trust yourself
and Good luck on your journey!!!!Im in the predicament of my life and I need some serious advice...?
This might sound dumb, but can / would your current employer try to help you secure employment in San Fran? Is there a division of your company, or an affiliate, or would they be interested in branching out? Perhaps they could do some calling for you to try to get you started?
Also, try a temp agency. Search for temporary + employment + SanFrancisco and then look for any of those companies locally. You may be able to apply and test at one office and then request placement by another. Not all companies do this, so you may save time by asking that first.

Here is one with several SanFran locations, and listing locations in New Jersey. I didn't see New York, but maybe you can take a day and test in NJ. It appears they handle office management and administrative staffing. It's not software sales, but they might have a software client or two.
