My husband left to live his life without me or our children. I don't want to be a lone parent struggling to make ends meet in the UK. I want excitement for my children and me too. I would love to do charitable work abroad and feel it would be educational for my children (9years and under), but thats where the problem lies; I can't get to go do what I want until they're older. I sound selfish but I'm not happy with the situation I am in; a stay-at-home mum with no career and three beautiful children I want to give a more exciting fullfilling life than I can here. I'd love to just pack the four of us into a motorhome and drive away to make the world our oyster.I'm looking for a new direction in life, preferably abroad and doing charitable work, can anyone give advice?
I commend you. I am also a single mother and sometimes I would kill to just pack up and move somewhere other than here.
I think exploring other countries is one of the most valuable experiences youngsters can have. You would be giving them a wonderful gift, especially by teaching them to enjoy helping those less fortunate. The times I have volunteered have been at my absolute lowest points, financially, and it always reminded me that my situation could be much, much worse. It keeps one grounded, and it makes one thankful. I am in the States, or else I'd pop over for lunch and be your friend! If you have the courage to make a whole new life for your self and your children, more power to you. May God bless you in whatever you decide to do, and if you would like to exchange e-mails from time to time, please do.I'm looking for a new direction in life, preferably abroad and doing charitable work, can anyone give advice?
A friend of mine works with turtles in the Greek Islands. They are all pretty young 20's and early 30's. You could put the kids into local schools, but you have to be able to fund yourself.
I am sorry for you situation, but with three young children, being missionaries to foreign countries would be your best bet.
I volunteered with i-to-i last year, teaching in the peruvian jungle, ws the best experiece of my life and i gained so much from it, you can do many volunteer priojects with them, also they have some paid things you can do abroad too.....i work in south korea as an english teacher, if you have a degree, you could teach english anywhere in asia...check out www.i-to-i.co.uk or www.engllishworks.com, hope i helped, and good luck !!
I recently met a family in Fuertaventura that done just what you are thinking about, and that was through a broken marriage that caused it !!!!
she sold all her stuff (furniture etc ) just after christmas, and boarded a flight to fuertaventura for a week's holiday, found a job in a pub/resturant, found a flat loads, of them out there , enrolled the children in to local spanish school, they now speak fluent spanish ! , if you are thinking of it do it, cause you only get one life and you've got to take the oppurtunity, if I was younger, I'd be off in a minute,
all the best for the future xxxxxxxxxxx
There are numerous options.
